I thought it would be fun to compile a list of free sock patterns available on the web. Here’s where you come in. Leave a comment with some working links to free sock patterns on the web. I will be giving away three skeins of our hand painted yarn. The first person who leaves a comment with a link gets the first one. The next two skeins will be chosen by the random generator. The deadline for leaving comments with links is Thursday at noon. The winners will be announced on Friday. Have fun!

How many do you want? I have 20 folders of at least 50 to 300 different free sock patterns in each one from the web over the course of 3-4 years of collecting, I have other folders in catgories for other garment items as well as patterns for crochet and other crafts. Eventually I’ll do a web page for all of them. I collect patterns every day from Yahoo groups I’m on, Ravelry, following links in web pages and web rings just to see what’s out there or new. Here’s some from today’s collecting:

These sideways socks are my personal answer to single-sock syndrome – I can do one the regular way & one sideways, ala Opal (whose free mismatched pair pattern is, unfortunately, not available) What fun – I’ll be back soon to check on the list!

Ooh, I have yet to finish my first pair of socks I started on over two years ago but I have fun picking it up every once in a while.
This is the website I printed out to help me figure it all out:
http://www.royea.net/sockdemo1.html
Excellent list of free patterns:
http://www.spunkyhats.com/boogie_freepatterns_socklinks.htm
a few others posted by individuals:
http://kathleen-dakotadreams.blogspot.com/2008/05/freebie-wednesday-simple-stripes-fair.html
http://www.wiseneedle.com/patternpage.asp?pattern=knitpatksox
My tip when amassing your list is to not forget all the free patterns available from yarn companies like:
http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=1536
http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=3013
http://www.patonsyarns.com/pattern.php?PID=2423
http://www.patonsyarns.com/pattern.php?PID=3051
http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Knitting/Projects/TV+Projects/KCT0011+Colorful+Socks.htm
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70739AD.html?noImages=0
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kwes-socks.html?noImages=
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kmstripe-socks.html?noImages=
Though you do need to register for most of them, it is usually pretty fast and free.
