A Finished Object Sighting

Filed under: News — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 1:43 pm

I love it when I get to see a finished object  of something knit up in our yarn.  I’ve knit stuff with Spinning Yarns yarn but it is so much more fun to see someone else’s creation.   That said, I give you:

deb_vogues_carolyns_yarn1.jpg

Say hello to Deb and her absolutely fabulous fingerless gloves knit up in the Dark Foliage colorway in sport weight.  Before I go any further I must thank Pam for her expert picture taking and emailing skills.  The photo shoot took place in our local Dunkin Donuts, where all important knit modeling is done.

Back to Deb and her gloves…  Notice first Deb’s excellent manicure.  I am loving the french manicure which I would like to say she had done special to properly model her beautiful gloves.  Not so.  She actually had them done for her national television debut on QVC a while back.  Deb’s a star, but that’s a story for another day.

Now to the gloves.  Deb knit herself up this great pair of fingerless gloves in Dark Foliage.  They came out great and am very proud of her and her accomplishment. We did have a small but spirited debate when I pointed out that the gloves are not “fingerless” they are instead “fingertip-less”.  I think they are a perfect compliment to her lovely hair color and her impeccable manicure.  Thanks Deb for sharing!

So, what have you knit with SpinningYarns hand dyed yarn??  Send us an email to info@SpinningYarnsOnline.com   and if you say it’s ok, I would love to post it here.

Holiday Gift Knitting Suggestions

Filed under: News — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 5:20 am

The Holidays are quickly approaching.  As a matter of fact, Hannukah is early this year.  It starts in the beginning of December!!  Before you know it, Christmas will be here too.  That said, let’s talk gift knits that are quick to knit up.   Interweave Knits magazine has a Holiday Gifts edition and there are some patterns in there that would be absolutely beautiful knit in Spinning Yarns Online yarns.  Here are some suggestions:

Sweetheart Sock, page 29

These socks would be perfect knit up in our new Semi Solids!!

Or you might like Socks for Veronik, page 29

Again, another pattern that would work perfectly using the Semi Solids.

There is a pattern for a totally precious little teddy bear that I think would be great knit in either a Semi Solid or a fun Variegated Multi.

Any child on your list would love this cute little guy.   The pattern can be found on page 34.

But my favorite pattern is for the Annetrelac Socks found on page 37.  They are specifically designed to be knit in hand dyed yarn.  These socks in the Violet Rubies colorway are sitting in my “On Deck” basket.

(My thanks again to my friend Pam who a few years ago turned me into an Entrelac Junky!  I’ve knit felted totes, the Lady Eleanor from the Scarf Style book (twice!).  Now, thanks to this pattern, I’ll have some entrelac socks to go with my collection.)

So there you have it.  Some suggestions from Interweave Knits – Holiday Edition that would be fabulous in our yarns.  There is not much time left so let’s get knitting!

There’s Spinning Yarns All Over the Place!!

Filed under: News — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 9:40 am

Now you can find our yarns in a few more stores!  In addition to Knit-A-Bit in Westfield, NJ and Modern Yarn in Montclair, NJ, we’ve begun to branch out up and down the east coast.  A wonderful shop in Ithaca, NY called Knitting, Etc.  just received a shipment of our Multis.  If you are in the Ithaca area go to Knitting, Etc. and you can see and feel the yarns up close and in person.

We have also sent a shipment to the amazing Stitch D.C. in Washington, D.C.  (http://www.stitchdc.com/).  This fabulous knitting shop actually has three locations.  Very cool.  I’m not sure which location will carry our yarn.  When I find out, I’ll let you know.  Although, if I were in the DC area, I’d go to all three shops because you can never visit too many local yarn shops!

A nice sized box of beautiful Multis was put in the mail today on its way to Richmond, VA.  You can go see for yourself at The Yarn Lounge in Richmond. (http://www.theyarnlounge.com/

I am very thankful to these wonderful shops and their terrific owners for giving a new start up company a try.  I am so proud to have our yarn on their shelves!!!
