We’ve Been Published!!!

Filed under: News — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 10:18 am

At Spinning Yarns Online, not only do we sell lovely hand dyed yarn, but we also sell some really groovy tape measures.  Apparently our cute tape measures caught the eye of a very nice Ad Manager at Interweave Press who is in charge of advertising for Handwoven Magazine.  She asked me to send some of the tape measures and they were professionally photographed and are in the current Jan/Feb issue!!!  Here are some very “not professionally” photographed pictures of the magazine.

Here is the page with the tape measures:

And here is my attempt at a closeup of the text and the picture.  Not too great but you get the idea…

The tape measures sell for $5.50 and are in stock now.  They are incredibly cute and a must for the well stocked knitting bag.  How much of a kick was it to see our name and link in an actual, real magazine??  Pretty big.  Huge as a matter of fact!

We are in the process of test dyeing our colorways for the Spring line.  We’ve got some real beauties in the works.  They should be ready to be put up on the site in the next week.  We will also post pictures here (now that I think I figured out how to upload pictures from my digital camera that are not microscopically small or way too big.  No, I am not a tech wizard…  I dye yarn pretty well but the technology thing is a bit beyond me.)

For our spinning friends, there will be some new colorways added to the site in the coming weeks.  We are testing new colorways and will be offering roving in merino and superwash merino.   One of my goals for the upcoming year is to spin myself enough yarn to knit a shawl.  I haven’t figured out the pattern yet.  I guess the roving and the handspun will inspire me.

Incidentally, the Baby Surprise Sweater kits mentioned below have a been a hit at Knit-A-Bit in Westfield, NJ.  Hopefully we’ll be dyeing up some more for all you baby sweater knitters out there.

Thanks to all our great customers and we wish you a warm and healthy New Year with lots of great knitting!!!  Stay tuned, we’ve got some great stuff planned for 2008!

Baby Surprise Sweater Kit!

Filed under: News,Store Updates — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 12:29 pm

Hey there.  Check this beauty out:

Baby Surprise Sweater

This is a Baby Surprise Sweater knit up in Spinning Yarns Semi Solids.  This combo is red, green, blue and yellow (aka The Primaries).

Knit-a-Bit in Westfield, NJ (http://www.knit-a-bit.com/) asked me to dye up some Semi Solids for these great kits.  The kit comes with enough yarn to make a baby sweater using the Baby Surprise pattern by Elizabeth Zimmerman.  Apparently there is enough yarn left over to knit up a cute hat too.  Got to love that.  Knit-a-Bit is a LYS here in New Jersey.  They have 4 different kits available.  Give them a call at 908-301-0053 and I bet they could ship one out to you if you don’t live in the area.

We are working on our spring colorways that will be introduced after the first of the year.  Stay tuned, we are dyeing up some great color combinations.  There will be new merino wool roving added within the next week.  They are soft and spin up like a dream.

Best Wishes for a warm and healthy New Year!!

Knitty Winter ’07

Filed under: News — by SpinningYarnsOnline @ 2:31 pm

The Winter Knitty is out. You can find it here:  http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/index.html

There are a few great sock patterns that would work wonderfully knit up in SpinningYarnsOnline yarns.  Here is a sample:

lighthouse gansey

These would knit up great in the teal Semi Solid.  The beautiful texture of the pattern would show up perfectly!

And lastly:

These would be great in any colorway.  I love the cableing.

I look forward to each issue of Knitty and am never disappointed by the great patterns they have.  I always want to knit every one of them.  I will try to restrain myself and be realistic and only allow myself to start any of these three.  There are others but, alas, so many patterns, so little time.
